The Future is Human: Realising Empathy for Change

Registration is now open for Series 4 of the University of Technology Sydney’s Creative Intelligence Labs (UTS:CI Labs).  The theme of Series 4 is The Future is Human: Realising Empathy for Change, co-directed by globally recognised innovation and creativity leaders Annalie Killian and Craig Davis.

The UTS:CI Labs is a dynamic, immersive, studio-style program designed to introduce the practices of creative innovation by allowing participants to experience them through the context of real problems and projects.  Participants explore with us new ways to think, drive change and innovate, to develop better solutions to the complex problems we face in today’s world.

Places are limited.  Early Bird registration closes on Monday, 28 July 2014.

Business as usual is broken. Leading entrepreneurs and CEOs recognise the need to radically rethink the role and future of business. We’ve forgotten that economics and business are social constructs developed in the service of people and not the other way around. What does that mean for innovation? How do we move beyond the hype and put the humanity back into ‘humancentred’?

How do we reset our thinking and become more human in our approach to success, both for ourselves and for our organisations? What can we learn from creative practice and from each other?

We are living in an era characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity, and boundless opportunity. Our use of technology is enabling and estranging; we have unforeseen access to information and networks, yet feel more disconnected than ever. Understand the knowledge, skills and mentality that drive empathy and transformation, and learn how these can be nurtured for innovation and change. We ask you to suspend judgment, get hands on, and work together, bringing your own perspective while gaining insight from others. Over two days, participants will be taken on a journey combining creative and analytical approaches.
