Summary

The Aeromechanical Engineering Manager is an experienced individual within the aerospace, technology, or related industry with extensive knowledge performing their function in a fast-paced organization. As a member of the Product Development Engineering management team, participates in executing the overall strategic technology and product roadmap that will drive the business growth in a very competitive market space. The Aeromechanical Engineering Manager will manage the design and development of new Unmanned Aircraft System products as well as product changes and enhancements. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a functional organization that has the capabilities and capacities to meet business needs, including budget planning, staffing, training, performance evaluation and career development.

Position Responsibilities

1. Manage a team of Mechanical and Aeromechanical engineers, including budget planning, staffing, training, performance management and career development.
2. Lead engineering team through design, analysis, prototype, integration, troubleshooting, and verification and assist in new product launch to production.
3. Improve product development processes by employing lessons learned and best practices such as modelling & simulation, design reviews, design outsourcing, tolerance analysis, DFMEA/PFMEA, DFX, retrospective, post-mortem, and customer feedback.
4. Manage the design and development of new Unmanned Aircraft System products, subsystems, as well as product changes and enhancements.
5. Evaluate results of aeromechanical design, analysis, and test to assure meeting technical objectives. Direct the introduction of new designs to the manufacturing organization.
6. Execute on business objectives and determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals and provide guidance to the engineering team.
7. Frequently interact with direct reports, customers, and functional peer managers, involving matters between functional areas, other divisions, suppliers, and the company.
8. Ensure proper documentation, such as design specifications, manufacturing procedures, test procedures, and reports.
9. Work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of business trends.
10. Recruit, hire, onboard, mentor, and coach the engineering team members.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

1. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
2. 7 years of related aeromechanical and/or mechanical engineering functional experience with at least 3 years of managing and leading a team in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
3. 5 years of hands-on HW product design experience.
4. Broad technical knowledge and experience to understand and evaluate design and development activity across multiple engineering disciplines.
5. Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and success to deliver products that meet requirements on time and on budget.
6. Proven and demonstrated experience with full product development life cycle from concept to production with proven track record of launching new products to production.
7. Ability to analyze the assigned project, break down work into functional disciplines and/or subsystems and create design/develop plans.
8. Ability to work onsite.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Familiarity with composite, injection molded plastic, die casting, machining, and PCBA/connector/cable assembly design, tooling, fabrication, and assembly.
2. Familiar with aircraft design: configuration, aerodynamics, structural, propulsion, control, etc.
3. Experience in leading integrated product teams.
4. Familiarity with aerospace military/defense contracting environment.

Physical Demands

1. Ability to work in an office and R&D environment (Constant)
2. Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

The salary range for this role is: $136,807 - $194,040
