Assistant General Manager – Upscale, Trend-Forward Restaurant (West Village/Meatpacking, NYC)
A highly acclaimed, modern restaurant in the West Village/Meatpacking District is seeking a strong, service-focused Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join its leadership team. The concept embraces vibrant late-night energy with an elevated dining and cocktail program inspired by global flavors, making it one of NYC’s most talked-about openings.
The restaurant blends upscale design with a lively, welcoming atmosphere. Known for its sophisticated culinary approach and high-volume guest energy, it has quickly become a destination for those seeking a memorable and unique dining experience. Management is expected to set the tone by maintaining polished, professional standards in a high-profile environment.
The RoleThe Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager and Director of Operations to oversee daily operations, uphold exceptional service standards, and support staff development. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of guest engagement, team management, and administrative excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Support
Partner with the General Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Monitor compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Assist with ordering, inventory, and vendor management.
Support the implementation of operational policies and procedures.
Staff Supervision
Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring FOH staff.
Lead by example in setting high service standards.
Manage scheduling and provide consistent coaching and feedback.
Foster a culture of teamwork and accountability.
Guest Experience
Ensure every guest receives world-class hospitality.
Anticipate guest needs and resolve issues with professionalism.
Monitor and act on guest feedback to continuously improve.
Financial & Administrative
Support GM with payroll, budgeting, and reporting.
Analyze performance metrics, identify opportunities, and implement improvements.
Assist in cost-control strategies while maintaining quality.
Growth & Expansion
Contribute to preparations for upcoming new locations.
Ensure consistency in brand standards and guest experience across properties.
Previous experience as an AGM, Restaurant Manager, or similar role in an upscale, high-volume restaurant.
Michelin-level or fine-dining background strongly preferred.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in POS systems and restaurant management software.
Passion for hospitality with a guest-first mindset.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
5 days per week (45–50 hours).
Two consecutive days off (typically midweek).
Evening shifts, generally starting around 2:30–3:00 PM and ending 11:30 PM–12:30 AM.
No extremely late nights.
Closing responsibilities on all working days.
Management team members are expected to wear suits or upscale attire.
Partnership with a dry-cleaning service provided for management.
Salary: $85,000 – $95,000 (based on experience).
Benefits: 100% fully covered health care for a single plan (Medical, Dental, Vision) after 30 days.
PTO: 10 days / 2 weeks annually.
