Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic  Operations Manager to lead and optimize the performance of our cannabis scientific laboratory. This pivotal leadership role will be instrumental in driving operational excellence, ensuring stringent regulatory compliance, and fostering a customer-centric culture that supports robust sales growth. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of laboratory operations, a proven track record in management within a regulated industry, and an unwavering commitment to quality and efficiency. This role may require periodic travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership:

    • Oversee and optimize all day-to-day operations of the scientific laboratory, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to established protocols and quality management systems.

    • Collaborate closely with corporate leadership to define, implement, and monitor company strategies and operational goals.

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate overall performance and service delivery.

    • Ensure all laboratory processes and outputs meet or exceed company standards and client expectations.

  • Sales Growth & Market Development:

    • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to achieve district sales targets and enhance operational effectiveness that directly supports revenue generation.

    • Analyze complex sales reports, market trends, and competitive intelligence to identify new growth opportunities, areas for service expansion, and potential improvements.

    • Implement and monitor promotional strategies, ensuring they are aligned with overall company goals and deliver measurable results.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:

    • Guarantee strict adherence to all state and local cannabis regulations, including those pertaining to laboratory testing, inventory management, sample handling, security protocols, and customer verification processes.

    • Conduct regular, thorough internal audits and inspections to verify compliance with all legal, industry, and internal quality management requirements.

    • Implement and maintain robust quality assurance programs to ensure the reliability and accuracy of all laboratory testing results.

  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Provide exceptional leadership, mentorship, and motivation to diverse teams within the laboratory operations.

    • Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and customer-first culture within the operational departments.

    • Oversee recruitment, training, performance management, and professional development of operations staff.

  • Financial & Resource Management:

    • Manage operational budgets effectively, ensuring cost control and optimal resource allocation.

    • Negotiate with vendors and manage supplier relationships to secure advantageous terms for laboratory supplies and services.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a strategic operations role, with at least 2 years in a direct management or leadership capacity.

  • Demonstrated experience within the  cannabis industry , particularly in a laboratory, manufacturing, or highly regulated environment, is strongly preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of state and local cannabis regulations relevant to laboratory testing, compliance, and operations is essential.

  • Proven ability to significantly drive sales performance, effectively manage complex budgets, and consistently improve operational efficiency.

  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal) with a demonstrated ability to motivate, develop, and manage diverse teams.

  • Superior organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Proficiency in relevant software, including CRM systems, LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems), and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently as required by business needs.
