We are looking for a career-minded candidate to complement our Logistics Operations team. The candidate will have responsibilities working with our brokerage tools to help create efficiencies for our Broker Carrier Sales team.
As a carrier procurement intern you will be working with the brokerage team. The brokerage team at Paper Transport finds carriers (trucking companies) to haul freight. In the intern you will learn about the supply chain and how customers and trucking companies work together. You will assist in finding companies to move freight by using our computer systems and carrier network. You will follow the process to determine if those carriers meet the qualification to move the freight. You will learn about different data points and how the brokerage team and leaders use the information to determine success, areas of opportunity and how to think strategically different.
Essential Functions :
- Uncover freight carriers within a geographic focus.
- Vet carrier qualifications.
- Discover contacts at freight carriers to initiate onboarding.
- Data discovery within existing logistics tools.
- Data collection from licensed external databases.
- Audit and organization carrier profiles.
- Occasional carrier tracking for the brokerage team.
- Complete projects as requested by your supervisor.
