Job Description

As the Construction Manager at Alliance for Community Empowerment (ACE), you’ll lead comprehensive training programs that teach essential commercial and residential construction skills, ensuring safety and technical proficiency. You’ll provide both classroom instruction and hands-on experience, guiding trainees toward valuable certifications. Additionally, you’ll oversee ACE’s construction programming and a dedicated team, helping to shape the future of aspiring construction professionals.

RUTH YouthBuild is a transformative program for ages 16-24, offering a WASC-accredited diploma, paid vocational training, and post-secondary readiness. Grounded in the values of Resilience, Unity, Transformation, and Hope , it empowers participants with a social justice-focused curriculum, life skills electives, and holistic support to drive positive change in their lives and communities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the community, culture, and personal dignity of program participants, effectively engaging, assessing, and planning services for the target population.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries with participants and their families, adhering to professional standards and practices.
  • Understands standard procedures for accurate record-keeping, including timely charting, proper notation formats, and confidentiality practices.
  • Knowledgeable about programs, regulations, and procedures related to human services, social services, justice, and workforce development.
  • Collaborates with the leadership team to establish a unified vision and set goals for the program, leading regular, well-structured team meetings that address program needs.
  • Trains and supervises program staff, interns, and partners to ensure high-quality services are delivered efficiently to participants and provides ongoing guidance and support.
  • Prepares and conducts performance evaluations, develops individualized training and supervision plans for staff and volunteers, and completes all required training.
  • Organizes and participates in family and service meetings, and team meetings, and coordinates wrap-around services with other providers, ensuring participants receive comprehensive support, including transportation when necessary to achieve program goals.
  • Oversees, schedules, and monitors the quality and progress of all construction-related curriculum and activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and teaching safety procedures consistently.
  • Utilizes the Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) to prepare participants for certification and entry into Building Trades' registered apprenticeship programs, implementing strategies to meet pre-apprenticeship program objectives.
  • Prepares participants for OSHA-10 certification in workplace safety and ensures successful transportation to job sites with appropriate supervision.
  • Tracks participant progress, training hours, and certifications, and submits grades on time while maintaining accurate data in participant databases and assisting with periodic program reporting.
  • Participates in recruitment, selection, and onboarding of program staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to work some Saturdays and at night, when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma required.
    • State-licensed career technical education instructor for construction required.
    • Approved MC3 Trainer certification required.
    • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry (framing, drywall installation, window and door installation, flooring, finish carpentry, basic plumbing, electrical, and roofing).
    • Minimum of 2 years working in a training environment.
    • Union experience preferred.
    • Spanish language skills, verbal and written preferred.
    • Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance.
    • Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check.
    • Initial TB employment clearance required.

  • 15 paid holidays (selected by ACE).

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $80,000 - $90,000 annually. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
