Job Description

The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for complying with all credentialing standards for processing applications, following up on requested information, and maintaining up to date files of all information received. The Specialist accurately inputs all information requested into the credentialing information system within established departmental time frames. This position is responsible for maintaining confidentiality of files and information and may be assigned other duties necessary to maintain accurate, timely and complete credentialing files and processes.. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High School Diploma required. Associate degree or Business school preferred. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: CPCS and/or CPMSM preferred EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of computer applications required. Medical Terminology preferred. Prior credentialing experience preferred. Excellent oral and written skills required.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Physical and visual ability required to work computer terminal. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to department leadership.
