Iowa Cannabis Company in Iowa City, IA is currently seeking Cultivation Technicians to join our team at our state-of-the-art cannabis production facility. Join us in our mission to provide high-quality medical cannabis products to patients across Iowa. As a leader in the industry, we are committed to innovation and excellence in the extraction process. We currently operate three medical dispensaries in the state of Iowa, along with our medical cannabis manufacturing facility.

The Cultivation Supervisor is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the direct oversight of daily cultivation operations. This role is central to executing our workforce development strategy on the floor by providing immediate guidance, training, and support to the cultivation team. The Cultivation Supervisor leads the team through the daily tasks of the plant lifecycle, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This individual is responsible for executing the production schedule's daily and weekly plans, ensuring operational excellence, and providing the direct mentorship necessary to advance our technicians through their career pathway at ICC.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Team Leadership & Training:

  • Direct Supervision & Tasking: Provide constant leadership presence on the cultivation floor, assigning daily tasks and directly overseeing the team's work to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Hands-On Training & Mentorship: Serve as the primary hands-on trainer for all cultivation technicians. Provide direct coaching, support, and mentorship to guide employees through the C1-C4 developmental pathway, focusing on skills execution and SOP mastery.
  • Performance & Scheduling: Conduct daily performance check-ins, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to formal performance reviews. Assist in managing the team schedule (TSV) to ensure proper staffing.
  • Onboarding & SOP Enforcement: Lead the hands-on onboarding for all new C1 Technicians. Enforce strict adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), identifying and correcting deviations in real-time.

Cultivation Operations & Quality Control:

  • Operational Execution: Take direct ownership of the execution of all daily tasks and outcomes in the cultivation spaces, ensuring the team meets all production targets.
  • Irrigation & Nutrient Execution: Directly oversee and participate in the daily operations of the water/fertigation room, including nutrient mixing and system checks, ensuring all logs are accurately maintained.
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Lead the execution of the IPM program, conducting regular crop scouting, leading spray/foliar applications, and ensuring technicians are proficient in mitigation tactics.
  • Systems Monitoring: Actively monitor the Growlink automation system, making approved adjustments to schedules, identifying anomalies, and performing basic system troubleshooting.

Operational Support & Reporting:

  • Production Plan Execution: Ensure the team effectively executes the daily and weekly cultivation plans provided by the Director to meet all production targets.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Compile and deliver weekly operational reports on team performance, plant health, and consumable usage.
  • Inventory Management: Manage the on-hand inventory of all cultivation consumables, submitting purchase requests as needed to prevent shortages.
  • Facility Upkeep: Lead the team in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organization. Coordinate with vendors for routine operational needs as delegated.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a commercial cannabis cultivation environment, with at least 1-2 years in a team lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in all hands-on areas of cannabis horticulture, including nutrient mixing, crop steering execution, IPM, and pruning techniques.
  • A proven ability to train, coach, and lead a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficiency with cultivation automation and environmental control software (Growlink or similar).
  • Experience with seed-to-sale and inventory management systems (Quickbase, METRC, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on immediate, hands-on resolutions.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain an Iowa Pesticide Applicator License.
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field is preferred.

This law also allows patients and designated primary caregivers to possess cannabidiol and requires the recommendation of a board certified physician.
