Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field, active Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) certification, and 1+ years Deaf & Hard of Hearing Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A teaching opportunity is available for an educator specializing in working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing at an elementary school setting. This is a contract position for the Extended School Year (ESY) program.

Location:

  • Bay Shore, NY

Duration:

  • Immediate start through August 15

Schedule:

  • 5 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling with the ability to choose the day to work
  • 10 hours owed from previous arrangements can be made up within the given timeframe

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to elementary students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individual student needs
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to support student progress
  • Monitor student performance and adjust teaching methods as needed

Qualifications:

  • Certification or significant experience teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Strong munication skills and ability to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Ability to maintain flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the program
