General Manager - Japanese BBQ Restaurant

We're searching for an experienced and passionate General Manager to lead our vibrant Japanese BBQ restaurant. As the General Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall operations of the restaurant, ensuring profitability, maintaining high standards of food quality and service, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Operational Excellence: Oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house operations, including dining room service, kitchen efficiency, inventory management, and facility maintenance.

• Financial Performance: Manage budgets, control costs, analyze sales data, and implement strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.

• Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Conduct performance reviews and address employee relations issues.

• Guest Satisfaction: Ensure an outstanding dining experience for all guests, promptly addressing feedback and resolving any issues to their satisfaction. Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety.

• Menu & Inventory Management: Collaborate with the culinary team on menu development and specials. Oversee ordering, receiving, and stocking of all food, beverage, and supply items.

• Marketing & Promotions: Work with the ownership/marketing team to develop and execute local marketing initiatives and promotions to drive traffic and enhance the restaurant's reputation.

• Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including health codes, labor laws, and alcohol service guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of progressive management experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant, with at least 2-3 years as a General Manager.

• Strong understanding of Japanese cuisine and culture is highly preferred, particularly Japanese BBQ (Yakiniku).

• Proven financial acumen with experience in budgeting, P&L management, and cost control.

• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate, train, and develop a diverse team.

• Customer-focused with a passion for delivering outstanding hospitality.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in restaurant management software (POS systems, inventory management).

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred.

• ServSafe certification or equivalent required.
