Velocity Rail Solutions has been a trusted provider of locomotive fueling and daily inspection services since 1996. We operate under long-term contracts with Class I Railroads, delivering consistent, year-round service using specialized equipment.

This Charlotte-based position offers local routes, a home daily schedule, and reliable pay with a set night shift schedule, manual equipment , and guaranteed overtime.

Position Highlights
  • Location: Charlotte, NC
  • Annual Earnings: $60,200 for guaranteed 48-hour workweeks (includes 8 hours of overtime at time and a half)
  • Weekly Earnings:  $1,118.00 for 48 hours
  • Paid Weekly
Schedule
  • Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
  • Days Off: Sunday, Monday & Tuesday
  • Consistent 48-hour guaranteed every week
  • Home Daily

  • Manual transmission tractor-trailer tanker (10-speed)
  • No automatic restriction allowed

Locomotive Fuel & Service Key Responsibilities
  • Work safely at all times; empowered to STOP work due to unsafe conditions
  • Follow procedures for loading/unloading sand, water, lube oil, and waste disposal
  • Safely fuel locomotives on-call using precise procedures
  • Respond promptly to customer dispatches (24/7/365 availability)
  • Complete accurate fuel and service paperwork within timelines
  • Wear required PPE at all times
  • Conduct pre- and post-shift vehicle/equipment inspections
  • Follow all customer safety rules and regulations
  • Report spills/incidents immediately
  • Assist with light maintenance and upkeep of vehicles/equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of company-provided spaces
  • Keep all training, licenses, and certifications current
  • Demonstrate reliability, safety, and teamwork
Qualifications
  • CDL Class A with Hazmat (H) and Tanker (N) endorsements or combined X endorsement
  • Manual transmission experience – no automatic restrictions
  • 1 year of commercial driving experience required
  • No prior hazmat hauling experience required
  • Must pass road test in manual transmission tractor tanker
  • Must pass all background checks required by the company, customer, and government
  • Responsible for maintaining all required licenses and certifications
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English
  • Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently
  • Moderate computer skills required
Physical Requirements
  • Able to bend, stoop, kneel, and climb on/off elevated surfaces
  • May need to walk long distances on paved or uneven surfaces
  • Able to climb in/out of truck cab and up locomotive steps multiple times per shift
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Willing to work with liquid non-hazardous materials
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently
