**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:**

+ Discuss heating or cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that necessary repairs corrected malfunctions.
+ Respond to occupant complaints concerning space comfort level in a timely manner.
+ As directed by supervisors /journeyman status technicians to service heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refilling non-toxic refrigerants.
+ Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
+ Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and controls to determine problems and perform necessary repairs.
+ Maintain HVAC equipment on an ongoing basis as part of Plant Engineerings Preventive Maintenance program. This will require weekly and monthly inspections of equipment and good record keeping ability.
+ Monitor water treatment program for HVAC related equipment.
+ Make recommendations for improvement of existing HVAC systems and design/layouts for future HVAC systems.
+ Ensure compliance of regulations related to refrigerants used.
+ Installs ductwork, refrigeration piping, air conditioning units, and exhaust equipment.
+ Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance and repairs to the existing direct
+ digital electrical and pneumatic control system(s) and components of the HVAC equipment.
+ Conduct repairs, preventive maintenance, seasonal tear downs and major rebuilds of
+ chillers, boilers, air handlers, and other HVAC equipment.
+ Assist with operation of the existing energy management and control systems in order to monitor and control all facilities space temperature
**REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):**
+ High school or technical/vocational school training.
+ Typically requires 1-3 years of related experience or may have 0 years of experience plus an associate degree, or additional training, or certification.
+ Read and write sufficiently to complete related paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints.
+ Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the traveling public and tenants.
+ Follow oral and written instructions.
+ All other duties associated with achieving the requisite skills needed for a HVAC Technician.
+ Candidate must have an interest in learning and progressing in their knowledge of HVAC which
+ will include off site training sessions in a classroom / online setting.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Must be able to climb and work off of ladders frequently and adhere to safety guideline always
+ Must be able to stand during the shift as the jobs requires
+ Must be able to wear composite tipped/steel safety shoes and other required PPE while on duty.
+ Must be willing to accept task assignments from time to time occasionally outside of the normal scope of the apprenticeship program.
