Job Title: Instrument Maintenance Technician I
Location: Carlsbad, NM
Schedule: 5/2 | 40 hours per week
Position Overview
We are seeking an Instrument Maintenance Technician I to install, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation systems in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role ensures the reliability and performance of critical control systems in oil and gas operations, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, update, and oversee all instrumentation activities, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, standards, and company procedures
  • Support cross-functional teamwork between operations, engineering, and projects
  • Provide input and review control specifications and work practices
  • Follow and apply work permits via the Permit To Work System (PTWS)
  • Ensure timely and high-quality completion of work as scheduled in the Maintenance Program
  • Participate in technical meetings to stay current on specifications, codes, procedures, and technology
  • Maintain open communication on control issues, safe work practices, and training needs
  • Support work prioritization to maximize effectiveness and efficiency
  • Provide technical support for instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Generate Management of Change (MOC) requests for control-related equipment and follow up with inspections
  • Construct, monitor, and inspect new installations for compliance and recommend upgrades as needed
  • Serve as backup for the Instrument Lead when required
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school coursework preferred
  • Experience maintaining instrumentation and control systems in processing plants or offshore production environments
  • Knowledge of regulations applicable to oil and gas facility operations
  • Familiarity with OIMS systems, related manuals, and procedures
  • Proficiency in computing skills and use of maintenance systems
