ABOUT THE COMPANY

Allison Sports Town Complex is an indoor/outdoor venue that spans 82 acres, nestled near Deer Lake Golf Club. Our premier sports complex offers 12 outdoor professionally maintained sports fields, including 4 turf fields that allow for all weather play. A 94,000 sq. ft. indoor facility is home to four high school regulation basketball courts as well as two indoor soccer fields Indoor and outdoor concessions are available as well as spaces for parties and meetings in our versatile indoor venue.

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

• Provide interaction with guests to create a one-of-a-kind experience at Betty & Bobby Allison SportsTown.
• Interns will be cross trained in multiple areas throughout the facility including food and beverage, guest services, sales, and facility management.
• Will complete a semester-long internship to satisfy graduation requirements
• Some students may have longer or shorter practicum requirements with less time commitment. Commitment length will be addressed individually.
• We do not require a set intern schedule but will be flexible to accommodate any individual requirements (i.e. class commitments)
• Interns may be required to help during special events and additional projects that are not related to their specific area
• Interns will learn and participate in all day-to-day operations of the business.
• This internship will be part unpaid and part paid. Additional paid opportunities may be available during the semester.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Sports and Event Operations Duties: Learn how to promote and operate baseball tournaments and other special events. You will be immersed in the scheduling, execution, and management of all baseball activities.

Marketing/Communications Duties: Work alongside the Marketing Director to allocate marketing dollars for different media outlets, create on-campus social media and Facebook campaigns, edit and update the BPA website, identify potential sponsors, negotiate sponsorships, special event management, and more.

Food and Beverage Duties: Learn how to conduct inventory, daily operations, and special event catering and party preparations. Concessions account for over 20% of the facility budget and is vital to the success of the facility.

Hospitality Duties: Participate in operations involving the on-site experience of the teams, including team registration, lodging, meals, swag bag, photography, gift shop, concessions, and special events including Opening Ceremony.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong desire to learn
• Ability to work in a team environment, as well as, independently
• Demonstrate success with multi-tasking and organizing multiple priorities
• Self-motivated and has initiative to complete tasks in a timely fashion
• Flexible work schedule that includes weekends, nights and holidays

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• No travel

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to bend, reach, and lift 50 lbs.
• May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend into awkward positions while performing job functions
• Will be required to sit for extended periods of time operating a computer
• Will be required to deep clean restrooms and kitchen areas including fryers, coolers and showers, etc.
• Workplace environment has intermittent noise, generally moderate in nature, but can be loud at times especially during competitions and events
• Exposure to heat, cold and other elements

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

• Currently a student or a new graduate
