Job Description

About the Role - The Laser Technician position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of technically challenging projects touching every franchise and site within the BSC network. As a laser technician within the team, you will be looked to as a key contributor in the exploratory development and ultimately the commercialization of various projects. On top of the workhorse PD support, direct engagement in prototyping and exploratory efforts will allow you to take a concept and make it reality, with the support of a technically strong, experienced, and highly motivated team.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and troubleshoot laser motion or toolpath to enable laser cut processes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot process, material or equipment issues.
  • Modify existing and develop new tooling and fixtures.
  • Revise existing documents, processes, and/or methods to improve processes.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to procure and install tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Work with engineers on continuous improvement projects.
  • Train and provide technical support or direction to product builders and other technicians.
  • Write and execute validation protocols and technical reports.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience.
  • CAD-CAM 5-axis programming or equivalent experience.
  • CAD experience (Solidworks, preferred).
  • Strong communication & customer-service skills.
  • 1+ years of experience with laser cutting systems and the associated tooling needs for given machines.
  • Opto-mechanical system experience (laser alignment, focus).

Preferred Skills

  • Metals and/or polymer material processing experience.
  • Fixture and equipment design or trouble shooting experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with motion controllers.
  • Process optimization experience.
  • Candidate must work well in a team environment across functions and sites.
  • Medical device or other regulated industry experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
