Mechanical Senior Principal Engineer

Mechanical Engineering leads and delivers the development of innovative and compliant mechanical design solutions, as well as cross-functional interfaces for Dell Network Switches and peripherals. Our team conducts the analysis, feasibility studies and testing of mechanical products, instruments, subassemblies and packaging for new and existing products – and then oversees the introduction of design changes to the manufacturing organizations.

What you’ll achieve

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Lead Mechanical Engineer Architect to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for spearheading front-end concept work and collaborating closely with rest of our Network HW engineering team members to drive the development of our network switches and peripherals. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the successful execution of projects from initial concept through to final production. You will be working closely with a cross functional team during each project, including Product Managers, Thermal Engineer, Electric Engineer, System Engineer, Design Managers, external suppliers, etc.

You will:
• Lead the effort to design, analyze, document, and functionally validates mechanical components and assemblies
• Conduct and participate in engineering tests to validate the robustness and proper performance of new products
• Interface w/suppliers, electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, tooling engineering, and other development groups to ensure the successful development and launch of new products
• Utilize best-in-class tools to develop and simulate innovative solutions to highly complex problems
• Ensure that comprehensive qualification and subsequent tool revisions are completed, and deliverables are met per program schedules

Essential Requirements

• 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a master’s degree. Program management or people management experience is preferred

​• Expert mechanical aptitude for interpretation of mechanical drawing specifications and technical documents

• Expert knowledge and understanding of appropriate technologies, vendor products and other market product offerings, manufacturing design issues

• Expert ability to conduct electro-mechanical product development, options for critical design elements and features to optimum selection, and drive issue resolutions

• Expert ability to read and understand technical data sheets, complex drawings as well as 3D databases, skills to perform CAD design and ability from FEA tools along with Solidworks or Creo experience

• Wide and in-depth network in mechanical engineering industry

• Comprehensive and thorough knowledge in cost analysis

Compensation: Dell is committed to Fair and Equitable compensation practices. The Base Salary Range for this role is $ 192,950 to - $ 249,700
