Job Title: Power BI Developer

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – Tuesday and Thursday preferred)

Duration: 6 Months (Contract to Hire)

Rate: $75 to $89/hr on W2

Work Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Start Date: ASAP

Interview Process: 1st Round Technical Interview, 2nd Final Round

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience Required: Minimum 5+ years of Power BI Developer experience

Equipment: Provided (Pickup or Shipment)

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a skilled Microsoft Power BI Developer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Power BI, Databricks, and dbt. The role involves working closely with stakeholders to understand their data and reporting needs, and delivering actionable insights through high-quality dashboards and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and understand reporting needs
• Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI
• Create data models and perform data transformations using Power Query and DAX
• Use Databricks and dbt to build gold-layer reporting objects
• Ensure data accuracy and implement validation and quality checks
• Optimize Power BI reports for performance and usability
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to BI reports
• Document technical processes, data sources, and report specifications

Technical Skill Requirements:

Business Intelligence Tools:

• Power BI, Power Query (M Language), DAX, Power Pivot, Power View, SSRS
• Azure Databricks, Azure Analysis Services (SSAS), Azure Data Lake Analytics, Azure Data Lake Store, Power Apps

Database Technologies:

• Azure SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, MongoDB

Experience Requirements:

• Strong experience designing and developing Power BI dashboards and reports
• Deep knowledge of Power BI enterprise architecture and security
• Experience writing complex queries and building paginated reports
• Strong DAX skills for creating measures and KPIs
• Proven ability in building and deploying tabular models in Azure Analysis Services
• Experience in implementing BI solutions using Azure technologies
• Experience with medallion architecture in Databricks

Soft Skills / Domain Knowledge:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to function independently and manage multiple tasks
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Reinsurance or Insurance industry knowledge is preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with other BI tools (Tableau, QlikView, IBM Cognos)
• Experience with Azure cloud services
• Microsoft Power BI certification or equivalent is a plus
