POSITION SUMMARY . Under the direction of the Preschool Director, the caregiver will be responsible for assisting with the planning, development, and implementation of all classroom activities. The caregiver will have specific assignments that provide for the children's social, physical, spiritual and mental growth and will also work in any support role necessary for the operation of the child care program.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. At least 18 years of age.
2. High School education and meet the state licensing requirements for the position of caregiver.
3. 2 years' experience in childcare preferred.
4. Required trainings within 30 Days - Y-USA Online Trainings: The Y & Your New Employee Orientation, The Y's Way to Service & Engagement, Orientation to Healthy Living, Introduction to The Y's Cause and Culture, Foundations of Listen First, Orientation To Diversity, Inclusion & Global; Registration required within first 30 days for MSDH Trainings: Health & Safety Regulation, Playground Regulation, and Infant and Child Regulation
5. Current infant/child CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
6. Coordinate programs for the delivery of the best possible YMCA programs.
7. Ability to create and work within a Christian environment so that each child has the opportunity for spiritual growth.
8. To further the Mission and Values of the YMCA (Mission: To put Christian principles into practice which build healthy mind, body, and spirit. Values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS. Walking, Squatting, Climbing, Hearing, Standing, Pushing (50 lbs.), Lifting (50 lbs.), Sitting, Pulling (50 lbs.), Speech, Vision.
PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES: 1. Developing and administering small group activities that include music, games, art, science and stories.
2. Being responsible for the safety of children at all items, including understanding and being able to implement emergency procedures as necessary.
3. Attending parent conferences or parent/child events as requested.
4. Assisting the staff with other duties as required for the operation of the child care program.
5. Supporting the program and the goals of the YMCA.
6. Assuming all other duties as requested
7. Utilizes time and resources effectively.
8. Demonstrates sound judgment in making decisions, setting priorities and solving problems.
9. Practices courtesy at all times.
10. Promotes harmony within the YMCA.
