The University System of Maryland and the client are seeking a President and CEO of the USM Foundation and Vice Chancellor for Advancement. This individual will be responsible for driving philanthropic and financial sustainability for the university system by overseeing the USM Foundation, managing assets, and implementing strong investment strategies. Additionally, they will lead system-wide fundraising efforts, engage donors, and support advancement efforts for the institutions within the system. The ideal candidate will possess strategic vision, collaboration skills, experience working with leadership and boards, knowledge of advancement practices, managerial experience, strong business acumen, and a dedication to advancing the mission of USM.
Reporting to the Chair of the USM Foundation Board with a dotted-line relationship to the USM Chancellor, the President and CEO/Vice Chancellor for Advancement will oversee a staff of 21 at the Foundation and 15 in Advancement and Advancement Services, with a budget of $10 million. Key responsibilities include leading the foundation, building endowment through investment management, fostering a culture of philanthropy, conducting campaign readiness assessments, increasing fundraising for system initiatives, ensuring compliance with policies, building fundraising capacity, leveraging resources to advance USM, and maintaining financial integrity. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and at least 15 years of experience in advancement, foundation management, or a related field, with a proven track record in fundraising and donor engagement.
