Job Description

The Robotics Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the robotics deployment team, overseeing the installation, troubleshooting, integration, and commissioning of robotic equipment in new and existing fulfillment centers. This field engineering role requires strong technical skills to deploy robotic systems, including mechanical, electrical, networking, and software coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience working with complex electro-mechanical and network systems, as well as a demonstrated ability to lead installation, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts.

This is slated as an 18 month contract with high potential for conversion to permanent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the installation and commissioning of robotic technologies in fulfillment and distribution centers.
  • Work closely with a team of 1-5 engineers and collaborate with on-site project managers to ensure seamless deployment of robotic equipment.
  • Provide technical oversight during installation, working alongside third-party installers, engineers, construction teams, hardware/software developers, and IT teams.
  • Troubleshoot system issues on-site, resolving escalations related to quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, and operational readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps, developing solutions, and documenting lessons learned.
  • Ensure projects meet key performance indicators for on-time delivery, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability.
  • Generate and implement process improvements, leading teams of engineers on deployment projects.
  • Travel extensively to live warehouses and new construction sites to support robotic system installations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • 3+ years of experience working with mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
  • 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and/or CAD models for resolving on-site clash issues.
  • 2+ years of experience in a field-based setting, such as construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environments.
  • 1+ year of experience troubleshooting robotic systems or other complex mechanical-electrical-networked systems.
  • 1+ year of experience with business intelligence tools and data visualization (e.g., Tableau).
  • Proficiency in standard office software tools and reporting processes.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team during deployments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with internal and external partners.
  • Understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching,

  • Ability to leverage data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Familiarity with LEAN or Six Sigma methodologies (certifications are a plus).
  • Ability to take independent initiative in solving business and technical challenges.

Additional Information

This role requires approximately 75% travel across the U.S., with potential international opportunities. A valid U.S. driver’s license is required.
