Job Description

Summary/Objective The Senior Human Factors Engineer (HFE) applies advanced knowledge of operations research, human-centered design, and industry trends to evaluate and improve products, systems, and processes. This role is critical in identifying and mitigating human performance risks, enhancing usability, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards. The engineer will collaborate across teams to influence design decisions, drive Agile transformation, and support organizational excellence. Essential Functions Apply state-of-the-art human factors methods and operations research to assess and improve product and process designs. Conduct evaluations and suggest redesigns to minimize negative impacts on users and stakeholders. Visualize and communicate the implications of design changes on diverse user populations. Participate in live demo calls and user sessions, providing real-time feedback and adapting to participant responses. Clearly articulate human factors issues to engineering teams and end users in both formal and informal settings. Ensure compliance with all relevant human factors standards and guidelines. Promote and apply SAFe’s Lean Agile principles to empower high-performing Agile teams and sustain operational excellence. Strong analytical and visualization skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Agile mindset with experience in SAFe Lean Agile practices. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Supervisory Responsibility This position may include mentoring junior engineers or leading project teams. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position regularly requires long hours across multiple time zones managing global workforce. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, Psychology, or related field. 5+ years of experience in human factors engineering or usability research. Preferred Education and Experience Demonstrated experience with SAFe Agile practices. Certification in Human Factors or SAFe Agile. Experience in healthcare, aviation, or other safety-critical industries. Strong understanding of applicable human factors standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, FDA). Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must be authorized to work in the United States. U.S. Passport required. Work Authorization/Security Clearance U.S. Passport and the ability to obtain Security Clearance as required by our Government contracts.
