This is a 6-month contract role. Following the contract period, the role will be reviewed for a potential full-time hire opportunity.

Position Overview

Working with Los Angeles Capital’s Software Development Team, the Software Engineer III is primarily responsible for supporting the on-going design, development, and production of the firm’s proprietary investment models. The team also supports tools and processes related to investment decision making, trading and back-office operations.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Create innovative solutions to meet our company’s technical and business needs.
  • Take ownership of all aspects of a product, including code, database, environment setup and deployment.
  • Work closely with software engineers, QA analysts and business analysts on product team.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams, such as infrastructure and application support.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with manager, IT members and product users.
  • Make demos and proofs of concept to show ideas and new features to product team and users.
  • Frequently perform code reviews and provide helpful feedback.
  • Manage time effectively.
  • Prioritize tasks according to urgency and/or user need.
  • Aware of industry standard best practices.
  • Provide tasks and projects to employees.
  • Help employees with career goals and guidance.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled one-on-ones with employees.
  • Conduct performance reviews with employees.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of experience developing software applications in a professional environment
  • Expert in either C#, Java or Python
  • Extensive knowledge of relational or NoSQL database
  • Extensive knowledge of GitHub or other source control system
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins or other CI/CD tool
  • Experience with a public cloud such as Azure or Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with Jira or other bug-tracking software
  • Experience supervising other software engineers

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • Experience in the investment industry, a plus

This is a hybrid position based in Los Angeles, CA which requires weekly attendance.
