Job Title: Sr. Human Factors Engineer Job Description We are seeking a Sr. Human Factors Engineer who will provide human factors support throughout all product development phases. The role involves translating user requirements into design recommendations, reviewing hardware and software design concepts, conducting user interface design assessments, performing human factors testing, and completing related reporting and analysis. Responsibilities Lead usability testing and human factors evaluations, including both formative and summative studies. Develop and deliver human factors engineering reports, including human interface analyses, cognitive walkthroughs, heuristic evaluations, and ergonomic and kinematic assessments. Apply human factors engineering expertise within cross-functional teams to assess the design space of consumer healthcare products and medical devices in accordance with regulatory standards. Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards such as FDA Human Factors Guidance and ISO 9241. Develop and conduct human factors research studies independently or with clients and/or government agencies. Plan and conduct user evaluations of product concepts, analyze data, and document evaluation methods/results in detailed reports. Present design recommendations to the project team. Manage and plan human factors activities to support product development programs. Assist with analytical use risk analysis to predict and assess use error risk potential and identify design mitigations. Create and communicate deliverables and manage time to meet deadlines. Guide clients through the human factors process, train and mentor new and less experienced human factors engineers, and provide leadership, training, guidance, and support to other engineers. Lead client interaction when necessary. Essential Skills Strong understanding of the principles of medical device and healthcare regulations. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to communicate visually via sketches, charts, and digital presentations. Ability to multi-task and perform a wide range of activities. Ability to work under a timeline. Ability to solve moderate to complex technical problems. Strong ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in human factors, user experience, usability, human factors engineering, engineering, risk analysis, ergonomics, kinesiology, validation protocols, writing protocols, and moderating and note-taking for studies. Proficiency in data and root cause analysis. Ideal candidates have an engineering, science, kinesiology, or physical therapy degree. Emphasis on classical Human Factors Engineering (HFE) training, ergonomics, and early formative user needs. Experience in human interface analyses, cognitive walkthroughs, heuristic evaluations, and ergonomic and kinematic assessments. Work Environment The role is based in an office/lab environment with an amazing facility in Providence, offering a great company culture and working with great clients. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Providence, Rhode Island. Hybrid: T/W/TH in office. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100,000.00 - $141,000.00 per year. Medical/dental/vision, PTO, Paid holidays, 401k matching, bonus plan.
