POSITION OVERVIEW
Devgiri is seeking a new Textile Designer to add to a growing product design team, focusing on woven, printed, and handmade textile design and development. Reporting to the senior team, the Textile Designer will work very closely with the design team, the sales & merchandising team and the sampling units in India. The Textile Designer will learn the textile and rug product categories in-depth, understand the customer needs for specific accounts and develop product presentations for each customer based on market information, customer feedback and trend forecasts. The position will be responsible for designing and driving development in our textile and seasonal rug categories, involve a mix of independent projects and support projects for our line, seasonal, or custom projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work with the US design team to create textiles for table linens and seasonal rug categories
· Develop, maintain, and evaluate textiles and construction samples for line development and special custom projects or seasonal projects
· Meet with designers, sales and customers to review custom projects and new development. Provide textiles, design work, specifications, and other meeting materials as required
· Keep up to date on retail and international color, design, and sales trends.
· Communicate with overseas manufacturers for the quality, design, and product development
· Support showroom set up for markets
QUALIFICATIONS
· Prior experience of 4-5 years in home textile design
· BFA in Textile Design
· In depth understanding of textile construction and manufacturing textiles for weaving process
· Overseas manufacturing experience
· Candidate must be proactive, resourceful, and efficient with good organizational skills
· Keen sense of urgency, initiative, and motivation
· Professional verbal and written communication skills
· Able to take direction and work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment
· Extremely well versed in Photoshop, Illustrator, Keynote, and collaborative platforms
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
· Open to international and domestic travel (when safe to do so). Travel will be determined by previous experience and growth in the position.
This is a weekly in-office hybrid position and based in downtown Atlanta.
