About the Team: The Materials & NDE Engineering team is responsible for the development, characterization, and inspection of materials across the Terran R launch vehicle. We specialize in rapid implementation of material systems through robust internal testing capabilities and first principles driven qualification approaches. We have recently made our first primary structure barrel, supported introduction of next generation powder additive alloys in the Aeon-R engine, and developed 100% in-cell NDE inspection capabilities for WAAM manufactured hardware. About the Role: Develop, qualify and optimize fusion welding processes and equipment/tools for Terran-R Responsible for weld procedure qualification and generating weld procedure specifications in accordance with AWS D17.1. Work directly with manufacturing teams to provide technical support for welding operations, troubleshoot issues and develop solutions to overcome production welding challenges Ensure process quality control and documentation meets required standards and specifications, implement corrective actions and continuous improvements to maintain high-quality outputs Process owner for manual and semi-automatic GTAW (TIG) welding of aluminum components, primarily in support of fluid systems fabrication and assembly for Terran-R About You: Engineering degree in Welding Engineering or related field Experience with fusion welding processes Comfortable working in a high-paced, production manufacturing environment Strong background and in depth understanding of fusion welding processes Nice to haves but not required: Welding Engineering degree Experience with fusion welding processesin aerospace/space industry Hands-on experience with fusion welding processes including manual GTAW, semi-auto GTAW, orbital tube welding and laser welding In depth knowledge of AWS D17.1 and related industry welding codes/standards Familiarity with common aerospace materials such as aluminum, nickel and/or stainless steel At Relativity Space, we are committed to transparency and fairness in our compensation practices.
