Job Purpose We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Weld Inspector to join our team. The Weld Inspector will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of welded components and structures. This position requires a deep understanding of welding processes, industry standards, and inspection techniques to maintain the highest level of quality and safety.
Responsibilities (80s of the Position) - Weld Inspection: Perform thorough visual inspections of welded joints, assessing them for compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and applicable codes (e.g., AWS A3.0, AWS B2.1:2014, AWS D1.1/D1.1M:2015, AWS D1.3:2018, AWS D8.14M:2017, AWS D8.8M:2014, GMW14058 3rd Edition, August 2018, ASME Section IX).
- Defect Identification: Accurately diagnose welding defects and determine the root cause of the issue.
- Weld Repair: Perform welding repairs using appropriate techniques, ensuring that the repaired area meets safety and quality standards.
- Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspection findings, repairs performed, materials used, and any other relevant information.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all repairs meet or exceed industry and company quality standards.
- Communication: Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to discuss repair requirements and progress.
Required Experience - Proven experience in welding and weld repair, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in various welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, ARC) and the ability to work with different metals (steel, aluminum, etc.).
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Previous experience in a similar role, particularly in industries such as construction, manufacturing, or aerospace.
- Welding engineering degree or related technical education.
Travel Requirements - Travel to support the business as required.
Physical Requirements for Non-Physical Positions While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to sit for prolonged periods of time, occasionally bending or stooping, lifting up to 10 pounds, and prolonged periods of computer use.
Physical Requirements for Physical Positions While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to lift up to 25 or more pounds, stand, sit, bend/stoop, or operate office equipment or machinery.
