We are seeking a skilled and creative Footwear Materials Designer to support specialized projects within our Tennis Footwear category. This role blends artistic sensibility with technical expertise to craft innovative and visually compelling materials that enhance both the performance and aesthetic appeal of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and curate innovative materials for footwear, with a focus on Tennis-specific projects.
• Combine artistic design with technical knowledge to deliver materials that balance aesthetic value and functional performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project goals, performance needs, and end-use requirements.
• Develop consumer-right material solutions driven by market trends, material science, and athlete insights.
• Present material palettes, concepts, and mood boards to stakeholders and leadership at key development milestones.
• Use design software, especially Adobe Illustrator, to visualize and refine material concepts.
• Build physical prototypes and hand samples for testing and concept validation.
• Integrate material solutions seamlessly into overall footwear designs, taking form, function, and manufacturability into account.
• Stay current on sustainable and eco-friendly material trends; recommend and integrate responsible options into designs.
• Create detailed CADs and tech packs to communicate designs clearly to factories and suppliers for sampling.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience.
• Alternatives: PhD/JD + 3 years; Master’s + 4 years; Associate’s + 6 years; High School + 7 years.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required; broader Adobe Creative Suite expertise is a plus.
• Previous footwear design experience is essential; experience specifically in Tennis footwear is a strong advantage.
• Passion for trends and deep knowledge of material types, both traditional and innovative.
• Interest in exploring AI-based design tools (training can be provided on-the-job).
• Experience or interest in hands-on sample making using tools like sewing machines, heat presses, screen printing, etc., within a maker studio environment.
