We are looking for a dedicated Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement operations, ensuring the seamless acquisition of materials and goods for manufacturing and distribution. This role will involve sourcing and negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring cost-effective procurement strategies. Located in Downers Grove, Illinois, this position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in purchasing and supply chain management. Please note, this is a Contract-to-permanent position.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute purchasing strategies that align with organizational goals for cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.

• Source and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers for raw materials, including steel, sheet metal, aluminum, and safety products.

• Monitor supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards, pricing agreements, and delivery schedules.

• Oversee the entire purchase order process, from requisition to delivery, maintaining accurate records for pricing, quantities, and specifications.

• Collaborate with production and inventory teams to forecast material needs and maintain optimal stock levels.

• Manage inventory levels by implementing cost-effective replenishment strategies and monitoring reorder points.

• Identify opportunities for cost savings through improved sourcing, volume consolidation, and effective contract negotiations.

• Stay informed about market trends, material costs, tariffs, and logistics to mitigate risks and maintain supply chain stability.

• Oversee international shipping, customs compliance, and import/export documentation to ensure smooth operations.

• Prepare and present detailed purchasing reports and cost analyses to management, providing actionable insights for decision-making.

The salary range for this position is $30/hr to $43/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in sourcing and procuring metal materials, such as steel, sheet metal, and aluminum, from domestic and international suppliers.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage vendor relationships effectively.
• Experience with import/export logistics and ensuring compliance with international regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems, with the ability to manage detailed purchasing records accurately.
• Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of market trends and the ability to adapt procurement strategies to changing conditions.
