The Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive clinical care treating acute conditions such as infections, minor injuries, and flu-like symptoms in both adult and pediatric patients. They perform diagnostic tests, make medical diagnoses, prescribe treatments, and refer patients for advanced care when necessary, working closely with physicians and utilizing integrated electronic medical records. We are seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners who have urgent care or emergency room experience, treating both adult and pediatric patients, to join our welcoming and diverse community of providers in the surrounding region part time or full time .

Job Summary  

Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

ChristianaCare-GoHealth Urgent Care currently has 16 locations: 14 in Delaware and 2 in Maryland.

Job Requirements  

Education 

• Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants  

• Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners  

Work Experience 

• 1+ years of post-residency clinical experience required  

• Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting preferred  

• Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred  

Required Licenses/Certifications 

• National Certification 

• Active state medical licensure (MD/DE can be obtained) 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required 

• Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting 

• Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc. 

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred 

• Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records      

• Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills 

• Strong communication and customer service skills 

Essential Functions

• Examining and treating patients 

• Taking patients’ medical histories 

• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays 

• Making diagnoses and prescribing medications 

• Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting 

• Recording progress notes for follow-up patients 

• Educating and counseling patients 

• Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients 

• Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care 

• All other duties as assigned

Full time provider $120,536 - $151,840 annually before value incentive
