Official opening of UNSW Art and Design

The UNSW attracted a who’s who of the art and design world when it marked the Official Opening of UNSW Art & Design campus and introduced the new UNSW Galleries recently. The launch was hosted by UNSW Chancellor David Gonski AC, President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Fred Hilmer AO and UNSW Art & Design Dean Professor Ross Harley. The crowd  of over 400 included many of the country’s leading artists, designers, educators, cultural and business leaders.  Among the highlights of the night was a video message from the Prime Minister Tony Abbott congratulating UNSW Art & Design on its relaunch and highlighting the contribution the faculty has made to the nation. The event also paid moving tribute to the late Nick Waterlow, curator, lecturer and Ivan Dougherty Gallery Director who inspired generations of artists, educators and curators.
