Adelaide World Design Capital Bid for 2018 will not proceed
Sadly, Adelaide has decided not to proceed with its bid to become the WDC in 2018. The Government of South Australia decided it could not agree to the terms of the Host City Agreement with the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, who run the competition.
If the bid had been successful, it would have seen Adelaide host a year-long festival of design with hundreds of events around the city. Despite the unsuccessful bid, it is hopeful that the momentum gathered by the various stakeholders will still eventuate in some forward-thinking design initiatives for the city.
