Design makes a major contribution to the Australian economy
The Creative Industries Innovation Centre (CIIC) has launched a video that answers a question often posed to designers ‘What do you actually do for a living?’
Creative Industries contribute 3% to the Australian Economy. This is more than other major industries like agriculture and electricity, gas and water.
This equates to $90 billion in turnover to the national economy annually.
Every job in the creative industries supports 2.9 jobs in other industries.
Every $1 of turnover generated by creative industries translates to $3.76 in other industries.
This video is a build on the CIIC’s recent release of the Valuing Australia’s Creative Industries report, which examines the economic value of Australia’s creative industries.
