2015 Good Design Awards open for entries on 3 February
Major International Craft and Design Event
The National Craft Initiative (NCI) is very pleased to announce that in collaboration with the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), it will present a significant 2-day international conference on the 17th and 18th September 2015 and a month of associated exhibitions and events. The Ian Potter Centre, NGV will be the primary venue for the event.
With the working title ‘Parallels: Journeys into Contemporary Making’, the conference will deliver national and international speakers, promote excellence in Australian practice through associated exhibitions and showcase leading thinkers who will stimulate innovative approaches to craft and design practice in Australia.

Object: Australian Design Centre is set to celebrate the milestone 50th anniversary this year with a host of events, exhibitions, and offerings in their brand new venue from May.
Gallery owner donates $10m to architecture school for displaced design
Now the Zimbabwean-born art collector, gallery owner and philanthropist has joined the dots and has donated $10 million to the University of NSW’s architecture school. Ms Neilson’s gift will fund a chair focusing on research into the design of affordable and sustainable housing for the world’s vast — and growing — populations of people displaced by war, natural disasters, economic and environmental factors.
New UK Creative Industries Federation
The Creative Industries Federation is the new independent voice of the UK's arts, cultural and creative industries. Launched in November 2014, the CIF is independent of government, represents all sectors, bridges public and private and spans the whole of the UK.

Celebration Creative – AILA’s 50th Anniversary
In 2016 the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) will celebrate its 50th anniversary. AILA is seeking expressions of interest from individuals, practices, schools of landscape architecture, or collaborative teams to take on the role of Celebration Creative to curate the year of activities, adding an overall thematic continuity to the anniversary.
Department of Industry and Science IP Toolkit – call for comments.
The IP Toolkit has been developed to offer guidance and provide the tools necessary to simplify and improve discussions around Intellectual Property (IP) in research collaborations. It provides information and resources to help establish the terms for managing and using IP in collaborative activities.
Australian Architecture practices in World top 100
Six Australian practices have clinched spots on the Building Design of UK's World Architecture 100 list, an international ranking of firms by size (number of employees).
